A1A in Lake Park between Lighthouse Drive and Northlake Blvd. This location has some restaurant history.   I have frequented other restaurants (all pubs) at this location since 1988, and in my opinion, the current ownership is the best out of all of them. It all begins with how you are greeted. It is impossible to teach someone to smile and offer a sincere welcome in their tone of voice. We have been patrons of other well-established restaurants that always seem to have someone new, and barely recognize that you are about to give them money for your meal(s). That was not the case at Pirate's Well. Our waitress walked us to a table that had just been cleared and took our drink order immediately. Great start! The Pirate's Well menu includes all of the items that you would expect to find in a pub plus several more add-on items such as a filet mignon steak, lasagna, burritos and chicken penne. It is a comprehensive menu and there is something for everyone no matter what your culinary mood might be. The prices are fractionally higher than some other similar places, but not to a crazy level higher.The atmosphere is fun and spirited.  The restrooms are clean and the staff seems to work very well with one another as well as the cooks.  Our waitress was terrific. She checked back with us and was attentive without being over bearing. She offered some good suggestions and got our orders exactly correct. We ordered the buffalo wings and ground beef tacos. Both were good.  Neither of these were the absolute best that we have ever tasted, but the flavors and quality are better than many. The restaurant hours are extended into the early morning hours, and they have live music on Friday & Saturday. If there was one shortcoming, it was that one of the patrons was over-served. I realize that the Georgia vs Florida football game was about to kick off, but there is no excuse for him to be in that condition.In summary, we enjoyed the food very much and the festive atmosphere. The service is terrific and we would recommend Pirate's Well to anyone.  If Yelp allowed half star increments, we would rate it at 3 1/2 stars instead of three. read less

However, as we were waiting for our server to come over so we could leave, I overheard the table next to us ask the server about a particular beer (Funky Buddha). He wanted to know what kind of beer it was.The server told him she would find out and let him know. She came back to the table about 5 minutes later and said, "Look I am new and I really don't know anything about the beer and I asked 2 people and they don't know either." WHAT?? Really?? That was her best answer? How about ask a manager? How about pour a sample so the guest can at least taste it for himself and determine what kind of beer it is and if he would like to order it or not? Or even ask Google!!

The guest was clearly perplexed and did not know what to say. He stumbled on his words and tried to be polite. He asked, "Well, can you tell me if it is a dark or light beer at least?" She said, "Again, I don't know anything about it."

There is no excuse for this. I suggest the staff get a little more training on product knowledge and providing good customer service. read less

Had the Mahi Reuben and it was delicious.  I'm on the Keto Diet so I didn't eat the marbleized bread but it was an inch thick toast and looked fresh and yummy. Home made coleslaw accompanied my sandwich. I would rate it a 7 out of 10.
The service at the bar was good.  Not great as there was only one bartender /server and it was busy at the bar.

Our waitress from the previous day asked Dee behind the bar to help us 3 times. Instead of taking 30 seconds to get my card she ignored me for 20 minutes. I finally went up myself and asked her to take a few seconds to get my card. I was there with my 6 month old and just wanted to get in and out. She told me that she needed to continue to help everyone else. Finally she took a second to go in to the cash register (she had been in that register 3 times while I was there to take other peoples payments) to get my card and confirmed it was mine. It took less then a minute to do that. Then she found it necessary to tell me that next time I should make sure not to come when they are so busy. (Again it was 3pm. Not lunch time) Well, don't worry Dee and the rest of the staff, we will never be back at all. I used to come in once a week for lunch and my local business would bring staff for birthday events. My husband and I both ordered breakfast.  The service was quick and friendly, the portions were huge.  I ordered the waffle combo, very tasty, way more than the 2 eggs advertised and quality was definitely there.  My husband ordered the huevous rancheros, again portions were huge and quality was spot on, however this was a different interpretation of huevos rancheros.  The eggs had jalapenos and ham in them.  Still, he said they were very good just different.  They also didn't come with salsa or any other red sauce, which was also different.  He asked for salsa which was quickly brought to the table and he devoured them.

So far there is only one restaurant that I have been to who knows how to make a true  vodka Colin's and that place is Brio.   Then I ordered the conch chowder thinking it was going to be homemade and delicious but after 2 sips I could not eat the rest and left the full bowl of soup sit there.   I then order the cheeseburger which I did eat but it was nothing special. I must say the server was great and took the drink and soup off my bill since I did not drink the drink or eat the soup.   This was the first time I have been to Pirates Well for dinner and will not be back. Anyway, Hunter has always been the one to serve me drinks and he is awesome!! A super nice guy who knows how to make a drink! AND A SHOT!! I asked Hunter for some advice on which shot I should take and I have a new favorite one! This place has really great deals. Last night (I believe this deal is after 7PM) they had $3 captain Morgan's and $4 tito's. I decided to have a dessert as well so I ordered the chocolate lava cake. Comes with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and whip cream. It was pretty good! Definitely satisfied the chocolate craving I've been having all week. It's definitely something you can share but I have a big appetite and I ate the majority of it.

We ordered conch fritters/balls for the table and they arrived burnt but appeared to have been made with fresh ingredients.

Our server was helpful and knowledgeable and took good care of us.  The place is clean but not very different from when it was the Wild West Diner. Sadly, this is not likely to stay open without some MAJOR culinary improvements.  The menu is comprehensive but the chef on duty could not execute the dishes we were served. Food was good, portions were ample.  My turkey club was made with turkey off the bone not processed.  Always a good thing.  Husbands sweet potato fries were actually crispy.

Our waitress Shannon was a delight and made sure we had everything we needed and always with a smile.

To be honest, it took us a year to come here because we had such a horrible experience at the last diner that was in this location The Wild West, that we could not bring ourselves to going there, even though it was new owners.

Wellington has a lot of nice places, but they tend to cater to one type of food or another.  It's nice to have a place with a good variety.  Everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked good.

She checked back with us and was attentive without being over bearing. She offered some good suggestions and got our orders exactly correct. We ordered the buffalo wings and ground beef tacos. Both were good.  Neither of these were the absolute best that we have ever tasted, but the flavors and quality are better than many. The restaurant hours are extended into the early morning hours, and they have live music on Friday & Saturday.

If there was one shortcoming, it was that one of the patrons was over-served. I realize that the Georgia vs Florida football game was about to kick off, but there is no excuse for him to be in that condition.

In summary, we enjoyed the food very much and the festive atmosphere. The service is terrific and we would recommend Pirate's Well to anyone.  If Yelp allowed half star increments, we would rate it at 3 1/2 stars instead of three. read less

Two guests ordered club wraps which were, at best, ordinary but were served dry with no sauce or dressing and minimal stuffing.  They both ordered sweet potato fries and the serving sizes were generous on the fries and they were well prepared. One guest ordered conch chowder and a Cuban sandwich and said their food was fine - not bad but not particularly good either. My husband ordered the fried chicken bowl and enjoyed it. I ordered a hamburger medium rare and got one very well done but just kept it although I took it home for my dog. It was a large burger. We ordered conch fritters/balls for the table and they arrived burnt but appeared to have been made with fresh ingredients.

Our server was helpful and knowledgeable and took good care of us.  The place is clean but not very different from when it was the Wild West Diner. Sadly, this is not likely to stay open without some MAJOR culinary improvements.  The menu is comprehensive but the chef on duty could not execute the dishes we were served. I ordered 4 fish & chips to go, and while the price was low and the portions were large, the quality of the food was also low. Neither of the 4 of us managed to eat all of the fish, or the chips. The slaw was not bad.

If cheap food and large portions are your thing, and you are not too picky about quality, this could be your thing. The service was friendly and hometown.

I would rate food quality a 1, but they were polite and though the atmosphere was not to my taste, I'm sure the right crowd would love the place, as it always seems to be busy. read less

The wraps went from succulent to puny and tasteless, the Cesar salad with chicken went from a rich, creamy delicious salad of superior ingredients including Parmesan shavings and a hearty tasty chicken breast to a pile of dry romaine, a thin sour dressing and some kind of shredded mystery cheese with a small thin dry tasteless piece of chicken.
The burgers are undercooked and tasteless, the philly similarly went from succulent to pedestrian with so-so bread and little meat.
The common threads are much smaller portions of lower quality ingredients and little taste, poorly prepared.
It hurts so much to have to report the decline of this restaurant. Perhaps they lost their kitchen staff or perhaps they had to downgrade the food to pay for the loss of income? Whichever, it’s off my list of local options for great food at a reasonable price! read less

That was just the start of the terrible experience. After waiting on the phone for 15 minutes someone finally confirmed the card was there. I went in at 3pm today to pick it up. Our waitress from the previous day asked Dee behind the bar to help us 3 times. Instead of taking 30 seconds to get my card she ignored me for 20 minutes. I finally went up myself and asked her to take a few seconds to get my card. I was there with my 6 month old and just wanted to get in and out. She told me that she needed to continue to help everyone else. Finally she took a second to go in to the cash register (she had been in that register 3 times while I was there to take other peoples payments) to get my card and confirmed it was mine. It took less then a minute to do that. Then she found it necessary to tell me that next time I should make sure not to come when they are so busy. (Again it was 3pm. Not lunch time) Well, don't worry Dee and the rest of the staff, we will never be back at all. I used to come in once a week for lunch and my local business would bring staff for birthday events. So far there is only one restaurant that I have been to who knows how to make a true  vodka Colin's and that place is Brio.   Then I ordered the conch chowder thinking it was going to be homemade and delicious but after 2 sips I could not eat the rest and left the full bowl of soup sit there.   I then order the cheeseburger which I did eat but it was nothing special. I must say the server was great and took the drink and soup off my bill since I did not drink the drink or eat the soup.   This was the first time I have been to Pirates Well for dinner and will not be back. Heard it was a great place for burgers/wings and beer specials. Looked on their website, saw the specials, and decided I'd try it.      Honestly, one of the worst experiences I've had. To start, the server said there were no drink specials, when I saw online that there was a special on Tito's, and on draft beer. Not sure if it was the server not knowing, or her just trying to men her check higher. I showed her the specials listed on the website, to which she said "Oh, we have this specials I guess". 3 mins later, got a draft beer and a Tito's on the rocks. Draft beer was flat, and the the Tito's tasted watered down.      Ordered wings and their "black and blue" burger, Med Rare that comes with bleu cheese. Food took about 25 mins, a bit long for a nearly empty restaurant at 4:30. When it came out, the burger had some mystery slice of cheese (never seen bleu cheese in slices) that tasted nothing like bleu cheese, and was so burnt on top, that we couldn't tell what it was. After 2 bites, we realized the burger was cooked closer to well done, nowhere close to medium rare. The wings were slightly better, but so covered in grease, that I felt sick after the third wing. I know fried wings are supposed to be on the greasy side, but this was another level.       We told the server about our issues, and she didn't really seem to care, or see that there was an issue, just asked if we'd like "chef to try again." Didn't finish dinner, and paid full price. I like to give local businesses the benefit out the doubt, and try eating there again before leaving such a poor review, but I could not find a single redeeming quality about this place. Hopefully my voice will be heard, and they will improve, but I don't plan on returning here. read less

All the food that came was fresh and hot. It ranged from tasty wings to a chicken gyro, which was amazing. There were ham sandwiches, roast beef wrap, hamburger, onion rings etc. It was just all so good. Drinks are big and there isn't a cheapness with the booze either. Bartender is unmmmm uhhhh abrasive.  Complaining about people not tipping.  And Ummm worse of all skipping my TOUCH TUNES SONG :(. Ugh who does that.  ABSOLUTELY NO HIP HIP TUNES are allowed to be played 🙁 ugh. This place would be good if they'd let paying customers play what they paid for on the juke box.

However, as we were waiting for our server to come over so we could leave, I overheard the table next to us ask the server about a particular beer (Funky Buddha). He wanted to know what kind of beer it was.The server told him she would find out and let him know. She came back to the table about 5 minutes later and said, "Look I am new and I really don't know anything about the beer and I asked 2 people and they don't know either." WHAT?? Really?? That was her best answer? How about ask a manager? How about pour a sample so the guest can at least taste it for himself and determine what kind of beer it is and if he would like to order it or not? Or even ask Google!!

The guest was clearly perplexed and did not know what to say. He stumbled on his words and tried to be polite. He asked, "Well, can you tell me if it is a dark or light beer at least?" She said, "Again, I don't know anything about it."

There is no excuse for this. I suggest the staff get a little more training on product knowledge and providing good customer service. read less

Larry, the owner has done an amazing job keeping up with great entertainment, drink and food specials, game nights and an amazing staff. It is nice to walk in the door and we don't even have to say what we want because Ashley is already getting our drinks ready. We also never have to worry about being lonely if we leave the kids at home because we know so many other regulars there. There is a full service bar and we absolutely love Dee and Jess. They never forget my double limes for my Corona Lights. Everything on the menu rocks and our favorite cook is Mike. Larry and his staff have always been beyond friendly. My family was in there so frequently, that the waiters knew our orders and had drinks on the table before we even picked up a menu (thanks Ashley!)On top of the great service, the food is always great, too! Their fresh seasoned fries are delicious, and their wings are always great (honey garlic, mango madness, and teriyaki mixed together is my family's favorite.) Oddly enough, their meatballs are very tasty, too.  I have not been disappointing with anything I have tried there. One thing to note is that sometimes the burgers are slightly more cooked than what I order, simply from sitting under the heat lamps.  The cooks never have a problem remaking it, but I still suggest ordering it a little more rare than you want it to be.For those of you with young children, I recommend trying it for lunch since it is a "bar" and can get rowdy during dinner or if they have an event going on (live music, big football game, car show, happy hour, etc.)Take it from a local, it is definitely great bar food and a go-to in Palm Beach Gardens/Lake Park. read less

Sitting there now for at lease 40 minutes. By the time we got our food half the place was emptied out! It had been at least an hour! At least! And my husband didn't get his toast and had to ask 3 times to get it! The food was good except the bagels were over toasted and hard to bite off for the kids. Overall, won't go back anytime soon. I usually sit at the bar and it honestly depends on what night it is, if it's going to be super packed or a little slower.

Anyway, Hunter has always been the one to serve me drinks and he is awesome!! A super nice guy who knows how to make a drink! AND A SHOT!! I asked Hunter for some advice on which shot I should take and I have a new favorite one! This place has really great deals. Last night (I believe this deal is after 7PM) they had $3 captain Morgan's and $4 tito's. I decided to have a dessert as well so I ordered the chocolate lava cake. Comes with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and whip cream. It was pretty good! Definitely satisfied the chocolate craving I've been having all week. It's definitely something you can share but I have a big appetite and I ate the majority of it.

The first time I came here, I ordered the wings and tater tots. I have to say, they both were DELICIOUS! Nice and crispy - just the way I like both of them.

Came for lunch with my Boyfriend and we sat at the bar.  It is a cross between a sports bar and a biker bar.  Very comfy casual atmosphere. Lots of lunchtime workers there enjoying lunch. Had the Mahi Reuben and it was delicious.  I'm on the Keto Diet so I didn't eat the marbleized bread but it was an inch thick toast and looked fresh and yummy. Home made coleslaw accompanied my sandwich. I would rate it a 7 out of 10. The service at the bar was good.  Not great as there was only one bartender /server and it was busy at the bar. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice causal clean restaurant with good food. read less

My husband and I both ordered breakfast.  The service was quick and friendly, the portions were huge.  I ordered the waffle combo, very tasty, way more than the 2 eggs advertised and quality was definitely there.  My husband ordered the huevous rancheros, again portions were huge and quality was spot on, however this was a different interpretation of huevos rancheros.  The eggs had jalapenos and ham in them.  Still, he said they were very good just different.  They also didn't come with salsa or any other red sauce, which was also different.  He asked for salsa which was quickly brought to the table and he devoured them.

We are looking forward to coming back and trying the pizza which appears to be a bar style, very thin crust pizza.  Very much our style. read less

Our food was excellent, our server was FANTASTIC - she kept all 14 of us full, and happy ... the bartender was another story.

Anyway, it's wonderfully clean, has a FUN atmosphere - and a good time! read less
